CPIM Certification Maintenance

Much like other professional organizations APICS believes in life-long learning. Every 5 years following initial certification participants will maintain their certification status through a system of points (75 for CPIM and 100 for CFPIM) based on their participation in the following four categories:

Continuing Education (CE)
Presentations, Publications, and Educational Development (PPED)
Service to the resource management profession (SRMP)
Professional Membership (PM)

75 Points for CPIM or 100 for CFPIM are required every 5 years from initial certification date

I. Continuing Education Relating to Resource Management (no maximum, 1/2 hour increments=.5 points)

Conference, seminar, workshop or symposium	1 point per full hour of instruction
Certification item-writing workshop	1 point per full hour of participation
Region meeting with an educational component	1 point per full hour of participation
Professional Development Program	1 point per full hour of participation
CPIM or CIRM certification review course	1 point per full hour of participation
Course offered by a degree-granting institution	1 point per full hour of participation
Training Program	1 point per full hour of participation
Independent Study Program	3 point per full hour of participation
CPIM or CIRM certification exam	10 points per exam passed

II. Presentations, publications and educational development (maximum 60 for CPIM, 1/2 hour increments=1point)

Instruction	2 points per full hour of instruction
Presentation	2 points per full hour of presentation
Published article or contribution	2 points per article or contribution
Published original research	5 points per publication
Published book	30 points per book

III. Service to Resource Management Profession (no maximum)

National/International-Officer of a governing body	5 points per year of service
National/International-Member of a governing board	4 points per year of service
National/International-Chair of a standing committee	4 points per year of service
National/International-Member of a standing committee	2 points per year of service
Chapter/Region-Officer of a governing board	3 points per year of service
Chapter/Region-Member of a governing board	2 points per year of service
Chapter/Region-Chair of a standing committee	2 points per year of service
Chapter/Region-Member of a standing committee	1 point per year of service

IV. Professional Membership (no maximum)

APICS Membership	6 points per year
Membership in other professional organization directly related to resource management	1 point per year

Much like other professional organizations, APICS believes in life-long learning. After completing the CSCP program, designees must participate in the Certification Maintenance Program. The linked bulletin contains all the information needed to successfully maintain the APICS CSCP designation.
